For example,if a husband, wife and son are seen together as part of the treatment for the difficulty that the child is experiencing, then they should be counted only once, not as if they were three separate cases. The parents are not counted because they participated as adjuncts to helping the child with his problem. Otherwise, the numbers get skewed and the impact that an EAP is having upon the employee population could become very overstated.
